100 Hour A Week Rideshare Driving Challenge

Sunday – January 31st

Starting tomorrow, I plan on driving for the entire week, February 1 – 7, 100 hours. There is three reasons I’m creating this challenge.

  1. Money
  2. To document how much a rideshare driver really makes (100 hours is a huge data sample)
  3. To raise awareness of lack of oversight in another area that needs to be address with government regulation.

3:27 p.m.

I’ve been driving since 5:45 a.m. I had stop to eat lunch. I’m a bit tired but  I’m going to take a few B-12 vitamins soon to give me a boost until midnight.

It’s been raining pretty heavy for the last few hours in Chicago and looks as if it will continue until 7:00 p.m.

O’hare airport should be busy will planes being delayed because of the rainstorm. I plan on going their to pick up a few good fairs.

No tickets as of yet today.

  1. As a commercial driver, I feel driving for 100 hours in a 7 day period is extremely dangerous. There needs to be a limit on hiurs, some kind of logbook. Lyft does a somewhat decent job of forcing breaks after a certain number of hours in a day, but does not limit the total hours. Uber allows as many as you want, all this makes me worry not necessarily for the driver, but for the passenger.

  2. 14+ hours per day for 7 days straight? Not healthy for the driver and ESPECIALLY not safe for the riders and other people on the road with you.

  3. Be careful… I understand what you are tying to do, but know when to stop.
